We didn't stay for long, only arrived at 10:30 or so, ducked out to the available speccy point and then pissed off again once the big delay made me sure that the rest of the event would be off.

It was actually a convenient excuse to try out a birthday present (the camera on which those photos were taken) :D

how does one find the avalible speccy point when things change? is there someone around service/hq to check with?

I went and found the Clerk of Course, Adrian Dillon, and asked him what (if any) speccy points were still available.

I'd already downloaded a copy of the spectator guide from the web.

Basically find a senior official and ask the question. If they can't help you they'll be able to direct you to someone you can.

Actually that's a good rule for any event, find someone who knows the spectator points and ask them what the best one for photos would be.

By the way, I had the motor drive on the camera working so there are more of each of the above cars, though the ones I've posted are what I think are the best of each car. If you want to see the rest then let me know.

Asking random people at at border ranges worked, but should make it a bit easier knowing who to try to find.
I had the yarraman spectator guide from the web, i just picked the wrong one to try find :)
I did at least think to drive by service to make sure all the cars werent parked there, thats pretty clever for me
