Hi All
As many of you are aware, the Excel Series kicks off this year. We have 1 car which will start (David, you rock! :) ) the year off which is great. Now, does anyone have any great hints and tips on how to get more people involved and enthusiastic about building one?
Some things on list to do:
- Communicate with those who expressed interest
- Having David's Excel on display at the Clipsal 500
- Make up various promo flyers to hand out at events, displays etc
- Need to get DVD footage for promotion
- Word of mouth
What else has proven successful? How did NSW and VIC start their series and build it to having so many vehicles competing?
All help GREATLY appreciated!
Kind regards

I was personally invited by JC to attend a meeting, ring people up and talk to people who have been officials for years and think the whole thing is dearer than it really is. Invite them to a information night.

Certainly our two open days were well attended, and unearthed several potential new competitors.
Other than that we would probably do a ride day next time, if we can find a suitably located dirt circuit that's within budget.
A guest name driver/nav in Geoff Portman/Ross Runnells generated a lot of credibility for Excels in Victoria particularly with their podium place in the event.
Possibly extending the display to the SA ARC Ceremonial start & spectator area at Mt Crawford ???. at least you have a pro rally audience

I was planning to enter lots of events and then win them all :D surely that would be good promotion?

Fingers crossed! ;)
Spoke with a gentleman today called Michael Rust. He use to rally in NSW and is now living in Crafers, SA. He seems very keen to get into some Excel action so we shall see what happens!

Hi Lisa like NSW and Vic our excel meeting was good, and there was not only potential people intrested in driving that came but also people who were also keen to help with organising and helping getting the series started. . I think getting a car or two running in a couple of rallies would have to be the best way of getting the message out to the public.
Maybe writing an article in the local rally club newsletter to get the word out there.
I think because it's a one make rally series the people might want to see 2 or 3 of the same excels running in an event, I think that would spark interest. Maybe 1 excel isn't enough? We are aiming to get atleast two runing by the end of this year in Tasmania so we are prepared for a full season next year with points.
I like your idea of starting of with the khanacross events and then work your way up from there!
Cheers Luke

Yes, we were hoping to have a meeting but unfortunately with work and our other motorsport committments, everything got a bit out of control. I like the idea of the open day and hopefully, we can hold a few more displays where we can get the Excel out and about. Definitely agree that it needs to be seen out there to grow. Unfortunately, my building plans are on hold for the minute until funding is back up. Have put a few articles in a couple of the club magazines down here and on the SA Rally Egroup but will keep at it. Persistance is the key me thinks! :)

Keep up the good work Lisi, you're on the right track. Just keep talking to people about Excels, eventually someone will say "I've been thinking about that" and you'e got them.
Good luck with your display, hope you get lots of enquiries.

We may have our 2nd Excel circulating later in the year!
Daryl, who came to Bega with Ethan and myself, advised today he may be picking one up! It is just a road car over in Victoria at the moment. He believes he may pick it up in the next month or so. He got his wish of having a colour which stands out - watermelon pink!!! :p Hopefully, the transaction goes smoothly and it all happens for him.

Another pink one. It may become the most popular colour. I might have to put some pink into mine in the respray, but I think it will still be in primer for Taree and then I might get some more ideas, after all its no use being shy.:D
