C'mon John; Full meal, drinks and a night to celebrate with friends for $75 each, I can't imagine anyone could do it much, if any, cheaper.

Other things you could get for $150;
. almost 1 13' Yokohama rally tyre,
. 0.3 of 1 car rego
. 2/3 of a pair of coil springs
. 2 changes of oil and filters, (maybe 1 depending on what you use)
. 1 Excel from your place to Tassie and back on the ferry.
. .75 of 1 set of brake pads
....

Hellyer includes a 3 course meal, besides I'd need fuel bed etc... to go to Melb for the night. Had a great rally dinner with my Excel mates before Christmas. Been to the last two rally dinners both were less than the cost of one ticket at this one.

I have been well supported in my rallying by my family for the last 3 years as has Bronni but.... there is no way I am going to be able to justify $150 for a feed for me & my Navigator.... especially if I want to continue rallying. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks it is a bit steep but I guess I'm the only one who had the guts to say so, respect my decision and move on please. I'm sure the night will be great, have fun.

I raised with the panel and VRC management committee , that the price was considered quite high by some competitors, however the NSW dinner is of comparable price. Bringing up a Tasmanian rally in the same post earns you no respect at all.

At the end of the day this is all about the Rally Community getting together as a celebration of all the good things that happened in 2008 and to thank the directors and officials

and to thank the directors and officials

John Carney

Hang on you can compare prices with NSW and it is OK and I compare prices with what was included in a rally package in Tassie and earn no respect hmmm however I totally agree with the thank you to directors and officials unfortunately the ones I've talked who have also been to the last two dinners and do a heck of a lot of work at rally s aren't going due to cost.... but thanks for going in to bat for them at the meeting and enjoy the night. Hopefully next years price will be such that both Bronni and I can bring our respective spouses by way of thanks for their support without having to fork out $300 to do so!

that the price was considered quite high by some competitors,

The dinner has been around that price for a number of years, hasn't it ? That's my recollection, anyway ...

I have always considered it reasonably good value - it's not hard to drink at least your $70 worth :cheers:
