Hi all,
Here are the details of the Kalpowar Invitational, Tanz the qld series points scorer is the Clerk of Course. Moxie and I did it last year and its to be held one week before rally Qld. The rally is a bloody ripper and perfect value for someone who needs a warm up before Rally Q. Yep thats right I know at least two cars that will be doing both.
The length of the rally will be approximately 268 Km including 12 special stages which have a total competitive distance of 245 Km. The entry fee is $330.00 and its pacenoted.
The rally course will consist of two stages traversed in one direction 4 times each, and in the opposite direction twice each. One stage is approximately 18 km in length the other approximately 23 km in length, making 12 the total number of competitive stages.
at last count three Excels from Brissy, Ed (spudcooker), justin (tweety) and Terry(rainbow) will be there plus one new one from the CC area??????.
Advice to Competitors
Kalpowar is a small township located 496km NNW from Brisbane, approximately 170km West of Bundaberg, and 250km SSW of Rockhampton. Please plan your trip thoroughly. www.racq.com.au/travel/trip_planner offers a good indication of directions and travel time.
There is no fuel, food or drinks available in town. The nearest fuel is available from Monto approximately 40km to the West, Ubobo approximately 50km to the North, or from Gin Gin 90km to the East. Nearest food and accommodation can be found at Many Peaks/ Builyan approximately 25km to the North. There is limited mobile phone service in the area, however there is a phone booth in the township of Kalpowar.
The Kalpowar Recreational Area, approximately 5km from the Kalpowar township, offers minimal amenities. There are toilets and a rain water tank with water unsuitable for drinking without boiling. Shower cubicles are in place, but no running water. The campground is run by the NPWS and camping fees apply at a self registration station. There are fireplaces, but no firewood is supplied. Further campsite information can be found at www.epa.qld.gov.au/projects/park/index.cgi?parkid=117 .
It is planned that the organizing committee will have suitable showers in place by the time of the event. It is planned that the organizing committee will have basic catering available by the time of the event (i.e.: sausages/ steak and salad on bread and drinks). Further regulations will carry this information.
