Hi folks is anybody else going to have a run in the HRA's #9 Trial .This will be the Grumbomobiles 2nd outing in a navigational event. There have been a few updates since the Trailblazer including extra lights/upgraded maplight/and best of all a sumpguard . All of this is really a long test sesion prior to entering a VRC event. Dave trees are you running your Galant???
Cheers Peter

Dave trees are you running your Galant???

Nope ... I'll be in the left seat of the Twink again :)

I had already committed to doing the 2009 HRA series with Kim before I bought my car, so am honouring that ... other than the Alpine, for which have been "released from my contract".

Hi Matt go to Victorian page and check out posts on the Trailblazer Rally and unfortunately I'm there in living colour Make sure you look at the second pic as the cars clean but the scenery is Very Interesting. Looking forward to seeing you you'll know the excel as its the quietest car with fairly bright lights.
Cheers Peter

Dave saw your pic in the HRA mag your looking younger every day!!! After the trailblazer where we gave you a full Cam head start the Grumbomobile has a extra cam and hopefully brighter non shaking lights for this event. Fred tells me I've got to go faster this time and get out of second gear! See you there!
Cheers Peter

I've nominated you & Freddy into our team for the No. 9 :

Team SixCam
Harper / Gallacher - Escort Twincam
Parry / Lakerink - Excel Twincam
Cranston / Latta - Celica Twincam

OK with you guys ? There are no team orders ... except to finish !

Thanks Dave I believe that a lot of of people have forgotten how good Freddy was [and still is] and if I can get out of second gear we should be ok. Freddy also gets a bit longer to plot because of our low starting position.
Will be fun and we'll see you in Dunolly both at the start and finish!!!!
Cheers Peter

Well done to Dave Trees 2nd outright in the escort!!!! pity about Rob C as his withdrawl saw the demise of team Twincam six.
The Grumbomobile had a poor event as the new sumpguard was too low and acted as the shire grader we must have leveled at least 30% of the route and this acted as a handbrake and kept our speed down.Still 19th wasn't bad for a pair of seniors.
On the plus side the twincam was brilliant heaps more grunt than the 280k singlecam-exhaust sounded better but still got the usual --?engine running comments-- the Mark3 light bar and IPF's were brilliant with little vibration and for all codrivers fit an LED to your map light its at least twice as bright with pure white light.
See you all at Bega

Firstly congrats to Davetrees! Well done best give us the details, (you know ..., why didn't you win??). Pete; I had a laugh at your sump guard issue! I did the same with my first sump guard; one huge alum sign from the local building wreckers. It was so low it was scraping on the crown of the road in liason sections! Every conrtol walked around the car looking for dents because they assumed we'd hit something.

Still, nuther rally under your belt in the Excel, how's it feeling now?

Thanks guys. The Twink is running superbly, Kim was on fire behind the wheel, and I restricted my navigational cock-ups to the transports  (mostly ... I did make an error in one section that cost us a few minutes, but it wasn't enough to change the result).

why didn't you win??

Alan Upton/Mark Laidlay were just too good on the night. Taking 2nd behind those guys will do us ... they are very hard to beat unless they have a problem

Sorry I missed you at Control 7!!!
Probably was hiding behind the tree signalling when you went past the flying finish. :) Hope you got a good time!!!
Congratulations on being the best car in the field and being the sole Excel in the field.
How did the bulldozer effect handle the steep decent into the creek/steam crossing just past the passage control in section 6? You probably smoothed it out for the following competitors. :lmao:
See you at Bega.

Wassa so it was you hiding in the bushes we stopped outside the finish flag for 2 minutes as we were EARLY!!! The controllie then told us our time was judged from when you signaled Buggered if I know what was happening but we only lost 2 points for the whole of that Tour we even got the triangle right!!
I'm thinking of charging all the following competitors a surcharge for having a well swept road. All fords creek crossings and anywhere where the road had a high crown we were skating along I know I was thrown off line a couple of times then dropped pace as the racket inside was unbelievable . Despite what some competitors have said it was bloody rough it even knocked the floor plugs back into the cabin. I've just had a look underneath on the hoist and the only damage was a bent sumpguard and the exhaust bracket in front of the resonator was bent . I wont mention the scars incurred when a sighpost tried to rape us in the last section!!!
See you all in Bega and this time it'll be me in the Bushes
