Hi people, lately my son and i are planning to build a rally car together, and we have been leaning towards an Excel, but the only thing i'm a bit unsure about, is it hard to rally in a FWD car ? Never really seen it done in a FWD car, seems like a bit of fun though. unfortunantly for me, i missed the Manning rally, so i couldn't get to see the excels in action :(

Hi
25th July we are up at Camden Haven so it will be a good chance to see the excels in action and come and have a chat. FWD are great and really natural for rallying. If you are to quick into a corner you back of the throttle and the rear end comes out and you slow down. If you are to slow just throttle up and away you go. They need a bit of aggressive driving to drive fast but are easy to learn on and take the steps before you get to that point. The one big thing to remember with FWD is that whenever you get into trouble put the throttle flat to the floor and drive your way out.
Ideally pick up a cheap excel and start out at a khanacross and get the feel of it and throwing it about. Remember that when you back of the throttle, the front wheels are slowing and the back isn't so it will keep coming around. Easy to swing and make them do things that rear wheel drives struggle with. Hard up hill first gear corners are their achilles heel.
