Does anyone have suggestions for removing the sound deadning material off the floors?
I've heard dry ice works well can anyone confirm?
what other methods are there that are quick and wont have me gouging the metal underneath :)

You can buy it from your local BOC branch in blocks or bags of crushed pellets. The pellets are the way to go.

Thanks Whitey,
I was pulling my hair out last night at the thought of having to crush blocks of dry ice.... :D
Will give em a call and get some pricing!

We used dry ice to remove the sound deadener on Hagger's car and it work OK to Well. We did the job between Xmas-New Year in the heat of the day and we end up using roughly 10kg of the stuff. I'd look at the forecast and do it on a nice cold night. If you get the pellets from BOC BYO Esky.
I have wonder whether you could get one of the pipe freezing guys to "freeze" the floor and whether that would be quicker than dry ice. Unsure how cost effective the pipe freezing guy would be

Hi guys, first post to your informative forum. The clock ticks closer to 'buy time' every time I log in... :)
I have to ask; how the hell does dry ice work to lift sound deadening off the floor?! Sounds too good to be true! Do you literally spread it on the floor and come back in 10min? 30min?
Thanks

Basicly the dry ice 'freezes' the sound deadener making it brittle. As for time we left the dry ice on till the sound deadener had a what appeared to be a frost on it(think front lawn on a winters morning) and then started chipping away.
