I have for sale my 1997 SOHC Excel rally car project. Selling due to work, family and time commitments will not let me finish this project any time soon.

This is what I have for sale as a package deal only.

1x 1997 X3 3 door SOHC (180,000km) fitted with adjustable front suspension and upgraded rear. Car has been stripped out for cage to go in and all that is needed for rally to go back in will come with the car (as in basic interior needs for rally, no terratrip, race seats etc...).
1x spare 5 speed box
1x spare ECU
1x spare SOHC engine (ex-Mick Gillet) that has done approx 75,000km
1x spare SOHC engine that has done approx 114,000km
1x Bond weld-in cage kit with extra bars (needs to be fitted).

Asking $3,500 ono......now $3,000 ono

I don't really want to sell but if I don't it will just sit for some time so it would be better in the hands of a new Excel rally fan with the time to complete it.

Car is located in Canberra.

Well

You know when you have reached the top in sport, people start quoting your name in classifieds to help sell their cars

1x spare SOHC engine (ex-Mick Gillet) that has done approx 75,000km
How much will my Excel be worth after Ed drives it? Actually he has already driven it so

Sorry Brett didn't mean to hi-jack your thread

Cheers Mick

Any lower and I will keep it and just store it until I have the time as I have the space to store it. Still better then buying a $900 write off from the auctions and fixing it up when you take into account cage, suspension etc... take all this into account and you still have a cheap package to start from :).

But then people could always make an offer on what they think it is worth and go from there :D .

Come on people someone make an offer otherwise I may just part it out. Offers over $2000 considered for a quick sale eg: payment made or at least a $1000 deposit paid within a few days.

Oh crap - I've just booked a restaurant table for two for tonight to get in the good books with the minister of treasury so that she will then be in a good mood to consider my plan for buying your car. Oh well.

Hi Brett,
Hope it went to a good home, any hints on who the lucky owner will be.
Make sure you stay in touch. Maybe you'll have an opportunity to Excel in the future.

Don't break my heart, at least tell me it was a NSW competitor.

Whitey

I know who the new owner is, planning to have the car delivered to my house on Wednesday.

For those who don't realise who I am, I go by the same username on BMSC, and I nav'ed for Glenn at the Hastings Rally last year.

Cheers,
Trevor

:hail: Thank goodness, I'm glad it hasn't made its way to Mexico like the last few excels for sale in NSW.

So you'll have the cage welded in and be running at Taree this weekend will you :D

Serioulsy though, welcome aboard.

You won't be seeing the car till next year, and probably using it in the ACT Novice Series to begin with.

I won't have the money to build the car up this year as I have already committed to a trip to NZ, and if I tried to get out of that, I think my other half would kill me. But it does mean I get to go to Rally NZ though.

Hi Whitey, yes I will still be about. May even offer to service for the new owner yet and for anyone coming down for local stuff in an Excel that need an extra body in service. I will look at the series again in a few years as I still very much want to do it. I will also do the officalling thing at a few rallies as well so you will all see me about from time to time.
