Hi Im Richard,
Basicly im interested in how exactly one starts off in motor sports,
my close friend owns a pretty fun little excel and we were wondering how we go about starting something simple..? Been uni students we dont have much funds to go all out in overhauling the car, but we will invest in what is needed.

annddd a little something about me :D!
im 22, ive had my L's for 6 years.. ive just never really needed to drive anywhere.. but now i do. So ive been doing my hours and unfortunatly i have a slight penchant for speed, this has sparked my curiosity. Not coming from a very sporting or car enthusiastic family ive never had an interest until now...
i mean outside of the occational top gear episode.
Of course as a novice driver i dont plan on racing any time soon lol :),
just looking for information on how my friend and I can get started in this unique and interesting sport :D

Richard,
If your Sydney based or close to Northshore Sporting Car Club is holding a Intro Khanacross - Driver Training Day on the 1st November at Riverside Oaks Golf Club that would be a great oppurtinity for you and you mate to see what rallying is all about. All you need is a helmet and fire extingisher to the appropriate standard and your good to go. Club level events such as motorkhanas and khanacrosses are great events to develop the feel and skills needed to be a top class competitior of the fututre. Have a look at the flyer on the nsscc.com.au website for details and directions to the venue.

No test is needed and the helmets need to be Australian Standard (that little silver sticker). Most helmets are Australian standard.
