Hi guys,

Im looking at the idea of getting an excel rally car up and running some time in 2010 but have a few questions regarding qld rego.

Is it possible to have an excel rally car fully road registered? Are there extra costs involved, if so any approximations?

What other options are there if its not road registrable and what are the rough costs?

The reason i ask is because I dont have a car capable of towing the rally car around nor will i any time soon (budgets going into the rally car lol). So the car needs to be driven to each event.

Not only that but im thinking of using it for various other brisbane events like mt cotton hillclimbs and ipswich autocross so it will be out and about a reasonable amount and i feel that 1 day permits are going to be a bit of a pain and maybe end up costing more?

If anyone can help me out or can point me to a person who WILL (i remember trying to call qld transport once about this type of thing and no one knew or wanted to know about it) know it would be greatly appreciated.

Exceelent, another one to play with! short answer is that any Excel rally car in QLd has to have full rego. There is no rally permit scheme going (yet) for non import rally cars. You will need to get the car blue plated/ engineered, a RWC and away you go. Budget $1-200 for blue plate (required for cage and seats if you've changed them....)

As far as I know, none. Rally cars in Qld require rego. I've only ever seen NSW cars competing on a permit up here.

The other thing you need to consider is who you have your third party CTP with. In Qld you need to get a 3rd party extention for motorsport purposes each time you do an event. Some providers charge $10-20 for this. Most people use Suncorp who don't charge.

I got mine rego'd about 3 months ago, and it's not overly difficult. Spear me a PM and I'll send you my number.

Cheers

Are there any mobs in particular that are in brisbane that people here have dealt with for their excels and would recommend for the blue plate and other excel related work?
