Dear All,
Firstly … Happy New Year! Hopefully you all had the opportunity for a well earned break…
In order to get this year off to a good start and to finalise the Hyundai Max Attack Challenge Calendar and Series Regulations a general meeting is proposed for Thursday 4th February 2010.
ALL ARE WELCOME - ESPECIALLY PROSPECTIVE COMPETITORS!
The meeting will be at CAMS (Sports House, Cnr Castlemaine and Caxton Streets, Milton QLD 4064) at 7pm until 9pm. If you are unable to make it in person we may be able to make arrangements for phone hookup – please let me know.
A pizza dinner will be provided so you don’t have to go hungry (unless you phone in, of course!)
We also propose to have a general information session following the official part of the meeting (which shouldn’t take more than ½ - ¾ hr), so if you know of anyone who is interested in coming along or would like to be involved in the Series, please let them know…
The Agenda is proposed as follows:
1. Welcome and Introductions
2. Series Calendar Agreement (refer attached)
3. Series Regulations Agreement (refer attached)
4. Other Business (as required)
5. General Information Session
If you have any other Agenda items please let me know (my contact details follow below or send me a PM).
I have attached a copy of the draft calendar and draft regulations for review prior to the meeting - comments welcome.
Please let me know if you are able to attend (or not) and if I need to make phone hook-up arrangements.
Thanks and Regards

G'day Packit,
You are more than welcome to come along to the meeting next Thursday evening. You'll have to put up with some minor formalities at the start of the meeting but once that's out of the way feel free to ask away....we're a helpful bunch and it's always nice to get new people into the sport.
Even if you can't attend feel free to drop me a line at the number listed in Skypilot's reply above.
Check out the build pages for Hannibal for some good info...http://www.excelrally.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=1403.
Also, check out the Brindabella Motor Sport Club forums, whilst they are located in the ACT, their forum is (in my opinion) the best rally related forum on the web (apart from this forum, right Whitey?). One thread which may be of use to you is

I'll probably have my car at the meeting if you'd like to have a look (It's due it's monthly run...) . The car was built on a minimal budget, so it would give you an idea of what you can do.

I'll also be bringing Jason's car to the meeting too but it wasn't the cheapest build...:)

G'day Packit,
We only hold a few meetings per year usually at the end or beginning of the year to get our rules and regs sorted out. Other than that we tend to meet informally at the events we enter (there's not that many of us yet...)
The next official Excel round is at QRC1 - Jimna run by the Brisbane Sporting Car club (http://www.bscc.asn.au/), this will be held on 17th and 18th April (we camp overnight at Jimna)
There are a couple of other events prior to this, namely:
Test and tune day on 21 Feb at Gallangowan
KCF Rallysport Rally No 1 on 13 March at Benarkin
I'll be at both navigating in Jason's new excel. There may be a few others present too.
Give me a yell on 0428 889 013 if you want more details happy to have a chat both about requirements, affordabililty etc...I've posted a some replies to your queries below...
Regards
Dirk
How can i get started?
Speak to us!! We'll be happy to guide you
Are there rally's in Brisbane?
Depends what you mean by "in Brisbane". Most rallies are held within an hour or two from Brisbane (or further afield) - Jimna / Benarkin / Gallangowan / Kalpowar / Urbenville(NSW) etc. Google Maps is you friend!
What are the costs involved?
Hard question! You'll find many differing opinions on this!
Note that you don't need to spend all your money at once... you can do it a bit at a time...It is cheaper to prepare a car for rallysprints though (i'm not familiar with these requirements though...anybody )...
Can a student afford it?
There is an old saying which goes along the lines of "the quickest way to make a million dollars from motorsport is to start with two million dollars" :wtf:, but seriously, it depends on how commited you are to doing your chosen sport.. if you want to do it, you will find a way! Student or not!
Even if you decide you can't afford it just yet, you are more than welcome to come along to events, help out with servicing, or help out with officiating, you'll make a few contacts and learn how to make the most out of your $.
Any other important info i need?
We have lots, just call and chat! or better yet, come along to one of the events I've listed above.
