Hi All,

Saturday the 14th was the running of the SA state autocross champs at Lanac Park which was round 1 of the SA clubman series and therefore the first round of the 2007 SA Hyundai series. Despite discovering we had a blown left rear shocker on the first corner of the day the car still went quite well (just had to ignore the loud banging noise!) and ended up 11th outright from a field of 30. We were pretty happy with the result as of the 10 cars ahead of us there were 7 4wd turbos, a turbo stanza, a pretty hot sounding datsun 1600 and a toyota sprinter.

The day went quite well with 9 runs overall including 4 (i think) night stages. I was there by myself this time so unfortunately i dont have any pics. Again a few interested people had a chat about the car so hopefully we will have more than one before the end of the year!

cheers,

Dave

From talks at rally panel on Monday night, a lot of people were impressed with the speed that your getting out of the car, certainly showed quite a few regulars what the potential these cars have, just wished that we could get some of the people that are interested get themselves a car each

gee and I was hoping it wasnt just the cars potential ;) but seriously I guess we have had a couple of reasonable results now and really we've only probably run half a dozen rally type events ever (3 in the current excel) and given that we have had a few mechanical drama's and we are running what I assume is a standard, used, single cam motor I can only think there is plenty of tuning potential left for both the car and the driver

I guess its always hard to get people to commit financially, not really sure how you work around that though. I am just hoping we can post a few good results and make a good impression. Maybe I could even put the other one together and we could lease it out? does anyone really do that kind of thing at the entry level? I did have at least one comment along the lines of 'if it was rwd i would be keen' but realistically where would you find a cheap, late model rwd that was produced in large numbers????
