As Thread Title suggests, who's doing the LCCC Shannons Safari?

I SHOULD be there, with Matt Want in the silly seat.

Who else?

Regs have been up on BMSC for a few days. Apparently the confederation against motorsport held them up somewhat :splat:

I am trying to get my BMW finished for its debut. If not finished in time (still need to finish some things for Log Book and rego), I might be out in the HEMP again, or else officiating.

Trinity, are you interested in jumping in again?

Thanks MrBob! Richard - don't worry about the BMW (325i, 323, 320i??), jump in the Excel! I promise you to be more competitive this time! if you need any parts for BMW let me know - I could buy a month ago '87 325i in reasonably good condition for 600$! or can get all the more expensive stuff from Poland for 30% of OZie price.

Seeing as tonight is my last night at home till the night before the rally, I am out. I will come down and officiate I guess.

don't worry about the BMW (325i, 323, 320i)

Actually, it is a '84 528i (E28). A bit of a tank, but it came at a good price (swapped my ugly as guts '86 BMW K100RT) plus it came with rally seats. The idea is to give RWD a bit of a go to see what all the hoo-hah is about. Mind you, it was unusual driving a RWD Celica with the windows open in the last Khana and not getting sprayed with dirt (I usually compete in an '88 Barina).

The HEMP is still on standby in case the car doesn't get through the log book and rego inspections in time, or I could be officiating.

Richard - 528i is a bit of crap - sorry:) 535 would go much better so seriously leave the BMa for khanacross and jump in the excel! - Dave is not competing so C'mon! I've received your message but was so smart and delete it before writing down your mobile number...:) See you in Canberra and see you in the Excel!!!

cheers

The previous owner had started to fit it with a 735i engine, but that requires a new wiring loom (Megasquirt) and knocks me out of the Classic Series. So I bought and fitted an original M30B28 motor. I still have to get it through Log Book inspection, scrutineering and rego inspection AFTER finishing off the list of remaining tasks.

Consequently, there is a 50-50 chance that the HEMP will be back on the track. For it I still need to paint the spare LHF mud guard and fit it along with the spare LHF indicator and the front bumper bar following the off in Lithgow.

looks like Im touching your feelings:) IT IS A GREAT CAR Richard!:) but I drove both of them and there is a difference. doesn't matter - RWD is more fun for sure but if I ever go for it, I would buy some OZie V8! See you soon! and good luck with all of the work!

looks like Im touching your feelings:)

No offense taken whatsoever.

I would actually prefer to run the HEMP at Safari, but many others have put a lot of time and effort into getting the Bimmer ready - so much so that I feel obliged to run it if at all possible. The only things that would stop it being ready is failure at scrutineering or rego. Given that the electrical problem with the rear lights got fixed tonight, there is really very little left that ould cause it to fail.

Richard - scrutineering is in Canberra, you will make it:)

I wonder if I can nobble the Bimmer somehow without it being too obvious to my mates?

I believe that if the windscreen wipers don't work it will fail rego check and they won't even allow a 1 week restricted registration permit (despite it never raining in Canberra).

I have been working solidly all weekend to get the BMW finished so that it can be log booked and registered this week. It is still on track for that but, given that it is completely untested, I have pulled the pin on competing in it for this event.

So, Trinity and I will be running in The HEMP.

Damo: SVX? I would be scared to drive it now on the public road!:) great car but 15 years ago! it would 1 of my last rally choices - just before Honda NSX and Fiat Multipla:)
Bargy: bring your excel too so you will have sth to compete from SS2...:)
