Now that Coffs Coast (NSW), East Gippsland Stages (VIC) and Cowra events have been run and won, attention turns towards the 2010 Bega Valley Rally.

The first dozen entries have already been received for the event, scheduled for the Sunday 13 June on the Queen's Birthday long weekend. All of the entries so far are from Victoria! In addition to the expected entries from the NSW and VIC state championship contenders, there has been strong interest from the Victorian Hyundai Excel Series crews.

We are also hoping for a strong number of 2WD crews this year with a view to adding an extra division to the event next year specifically for these crews (probably on the Saturday night). The superb roads that are a traditional feature of the Bega Valley Rally are sure to satisfy everyone. After the recent course check Kam Baker wrote that "The selection of roads is nothing short of awesome. There is tight technical stuff, big wide fast open forest roads that leave the Shire roads for dead. Get your entry in you won't be disappointed."

A feature of this year’s event, to be based at Eden for the first time, will be the Sunday morning start at the picturesque Eden Wharf. Not only will this provide a scenic backdrop with the exhilarating tang of salty air, but a number of the local cafes will be open to provide hot breakfast and coffee for crews, their supporters, officials and spectators.

The fashion conscious will be glad to hear that a new ‘Bega Beanie’ has been added to range of ‘first-time’ merchandise available and this is expected to be a ‘hot’ item for this year’s event. These and all the other details required by competitors and officials can be found on the comprehensive website at www.begavalleyrally.com.au
