Well, Round two (actually the first…) of the 2010 Hyundai Max Attack Challenge has been run and won…
Firstly a big thanks to Cap Coast Rallysport for inviting the Excels along and allowing them to have a play on the fabulous roads up in the Kalpowar State Forest. The weather was spot on with a glorious autumn day giving competitors a cool, clear sunny day. Matt and Tanz, you and all your helpers put together a great event (I don’t know how you got all the rain to go around Kalpowar though!).
The event consisted of three stages of 12.57, 7.07 and 17.91km run three times. Some said the roads were a little rough and whilst I was unable to compete (:() I had the pleasure of spending the day in the silly seat of Car 0 next to Mr Anthony Tanzer so I did get to experience them, just not at full rally speed (although it was close in parts!).
First Excel was Ed Williams and Joe Brennand in Spuddy, with second going to Hannibal handled by Al Reinikka and co-driven by Tamie McNulty. Thanks to series sponsor GSL Rallysport for competitor trophies.
Rob Dixon and Theresa Daniels unfortunately had to withdraw from the Rally after puncturing their fuel tank...I understand that this didn’t help Rob’s constitution as the windy roads and fuel fumes contributed to an unusual sight greeting the following crew of “ex-excelarians” Justin Sinclair and Rodney Patman…Rob still had the presence of mind to hold up the OK sign whilst he fertilised the Kalpowar forest!!! :sick:

I’ll respectfully hand over to Ed, Al or Rob (or any others!) for further comment on the roads and their performances! Hopefully they managed to score some photos and video footage too!
Once again thanks to Matt Newmann, Anthony Tanzer and the rest of the organising team for a great event that focussed on everyone having a great time both on the roads and afterwards!:clap:
