I have just bought a Twin Cam project, and I bought it for the right price as it does not go and the guy who owned got so frustrated with it he just wanted it gone.
And as I have been down this path before thought this should be easy enough as it has no spark.
I have changed all the known faults I have encountered with these things,
The coil pack, the ECU, the crank angle sensor and still no spark..
The only thing that has me curious is the map sensor does not look that crash hot, it has a few fine cracks in it.
So the question is will a map sensor prevent spark or where should I be looking next.
I know most people will say save time take it to the auto electie but the last time I did this it took him two days to find the problem too and I was the one who footed the bill. I may go this way when I have exhausted my options.
One more thing this car has a sticker on the window for a car alarm and there are some aftermarket wires under the dash, in anyones experience have car alarms caused problems with car wiring??

One more thing first thing I did was change the fuel pump relay, and that is not the problem as the plugs are wet from fuel it is a spark problem.:attack:
There are no lights on the dash when the key is on which is strange. No oil pressure or Alternator light.

You might like to double check the fuses inside the cabin. I had a short in the ECU circuit just after I bought the HEMP. Symptom was that no instrument panel light would come on and no spark. Multiple 20A fuses later (we could hear it pop each time we replaced it), we added insulation material at the offending point and it has been fine since.

hi Bugger any after market alarm or indeed any bl$$dy alarm off they cause nothing but trouble and MAY posibily be the cause of your problem:(
Work to the KISS principle--Keep It Simple Stupid and your hair wont go grey --like mine. :spank:

If this is a new car aswell as engine check the control relay for operation. When the ignition is turned on the check engine light, hand brake light and the battery light should come on. If there are no dash lights the control relay isn't being switched on (earthed) by the ecu. Since the ecu has been checked i'd look at the control relay and power to it first. So check all the fuses & power feeds (wires) that supply the ecu and control relay (under the bonnet & inside the car) and the control relay.

Oh and agreed get rid of all that imobilizer wiring first, its most probably causing the issue.

Thanks for your reply but the towel has already been thrown in the ring. It is going to the sparky to find the problem. They have the time they have the patience they have the technology. :spank:

I agree with you 200%. I don't think chemistry can be created. I mean, yes, it can be "amplified" (for lack of a better term) but if you've gotta amplify it ALL THE TIME, it's gonna get real old real quick. Personally, I think you should just be honest with the guys. Tell them that while you had fun, there was no spark for you, and that that's something big you're looking for. I'm willing to bet that more often than not the guy won't be hurt, and will be pleased that you were honest with him from the get-go.
