View Full Version : What front struts?
What front struts are you using?
DMS seems to be a popular choice, but I'm trying to find a more "Budget" option, for the time being at least.
What happened to the Noltec stuff Shab(?) was running? Is it still around?

I use pedders combo of their springs and shocks. Also Paul who won in the mud at Cerberus Stages was on Lovel (Pulsar) Springs with KYB Shocks that had already done a full season.

In NSW, whitey, andrei and myself are running Noltec, Glenn and the Cullens are running DMS, Mick has the Murray Coote (Pro flex) gear.
If I had the dollars, would love to have the pro flex or drummond, but I don't think from our performance that the Noltec is much worse of. It soounds like they handle the bigger humps a bit better, but I am not too much slower than Glenn and I also run Ausports rather than the Dunlops, so don't seem to have any difference in that either although they are half the price. Next event I will raise the shift light level as well. The Noltecs seemed to be good at the worst, haven't been in the other cars so can't compare. We maybe need to do a test day somewhere where we can go for rides in various cars to see the difference in set up, swap tyres, maybe even swap struts, and then we could be really informative about it, but that might take some of the fun in there being small differences anyway. And it might also blow or confirm any performance differences between tryes, suspension, caging etc etc.

Now that we have had the Excel in the forrest, i think the DMS is about the same performance as the big Bilstein's in the Sprinter. They do handle the bigger bumps well.

On the Noltec, I have heard that they now use different shocks than the earlier version. I don't know if that makes them better or worse now.

As Crazy Dave has said, i run Noltec.
Noltec don't sell them anymore, but they probably can be still purchased from the manufacturer- Hotbits (http://www.hotbits.com.au/) in Melbourne.
A good cheaper alternative.
Thanks for the linkage, Whitey. I'll give them a call.
