Ok so I got my springs rated yesterday and here is the info they gave me

Load (lbs)
Deflection (Inches) rear spring 1 rear spring 2 front spring 1 front spring 2

0.5 35 30 55 50
1 80 70 125 125
1.5 125 110 195 195
2 170 155 280 285
2.5 220 205 380 375
3 280 265 500 490
3.5 350 335 630 600
4 430 415 775 745
4.5 520 500 925 875
5 620 600 1090 1050

so can anyone decipher it and give me an idea if it looks good, bad or otherwise? sorry about the formatting but i couldnt work out how to add in a table.

cheers,

Dave

No idea but it is interesting how much difference there is between each pair. I had not of thought of that before but that is probably where the top dollar springs pay in consistency.

The consistency of quality Korean steel.:)

These must be standard springs, the rates are pretty low.

I have created a spring rate graph (attached)
The rates are progressive and approximately:

Front 100 lb/in for compression less than 2 inches
Front 150 lb/in for compression greater than 2 inches

Rear 75 lb/in for compression less than 2 inches
Front 105 lb/in for compression gretaer than 2 inches

slow day at work...

thanks Whitey,

these aren't standard springs though, they are, I believe, the original DMS springs as fitted to the DMS struts (running Bilstein inserts apparently) that were on the car when I bought it from Paul Batten. They are definitely stiffer than the standard springs as I ran the original rear struts at the last event due to shocks currently being repaired. Interesting to know though that it appears they would be softer than what most others are running?\

I actually thought they felt pretty stiff, but then I've never owned a rally car before...

Actually i take that back. At 5 inches of compression they are probably about the minimum you would run in a linear spring.

I think they are pretty close (at 5 inches) to what Glenn said he runs.

Although maybe Glenn has progressive springs also. Glenn??
