Hey

I've been interested in the xcel series for a couple of years now and am finally ready to get involved, now 23 y/o and feel that I'm able to financially commit if I enjoy it. I've been really interested in rally for many years since hearing stories from my Dad who was involved with amateur rally in the ACT in his younger days. I'm situated in the S.E. suburbs of Melbourne and am looking to get a taste of rally.

I'm interested in possibly volunteering at an event or would love the opportunity to learn the ropes and get a seat co-driving/navigating for someone before sinking money into an car to enter myself.

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendations of a suitable car club involved with the series that is geographicaly viable would be great.

Thanks

Hi Macsetna
Welcome to the excel series!
CCRMIT car club would be a good option for you being based in SE Melb.
I think Vivski is looking for a co driver for Rally Vic coming up in Nov. Can I suggest you send him a message?

Go along with almost all JB says and certainly a big welcome :grouphug:

The Victorian Hyundai Batronic Rally Series in Victoria is going along really well at the moment we are receiving a high number of entries for each event and have more people joining than leaving at the present.

I think you could also join Pakenham Auto Club or Bendigo Car Club as a superior alternative to CCRMIT :potstir:

My recommendation even in the light of Vivs outstanding introduction to rallying at the Akademos would be for you to start with a motorkhana and then some autocrossing. Most of the sucessful rallyists have gone down this training regime e.g Brendan Reeves and Stephen Kenway.

I believe PAC are running a Come and Try day the last weekend in October which would be a great opportunity to learn heaps at very minimal expense.

If a co drive at Rally Victoria does not happen I can find you plenty of Excel action in the service bay or at remote refuel etc.

Try Vivski too, I know he needs a nav, good thing is if you team up with a new driver you will be eligible for the novice title (sometimes involves prize money) and you can both learn together.
