Hi All,

just wondering what pad/shoe combinations people are using? At the last rally I wasn't entirely happy with the 'feel' , or lack thereof, with our current setup and was wondering what others use, estimated cost etc. Basically it kinda felt like the brakes weren't doing much and then they would lock up. We are just using a new set of Bendix road pads up front and whatever shoes were fitted in the back when we got it.

cheers,

Dave

Sydney racebrakes, we had the same experience as you using the same equipment, then went to Sydney racebrakes and the problem was fixed.

Or you could try Mintex they sell performance pads for Excels.

We have been using Kev's and Matts brakes from the start and have always had fantastic brake feel. This also incudes rear shoes. We changed the Pads and shoes for lithgow as they had done about 15 rallies and a few drive days and test days.

We put a new set of discs on after Coffs Rally in 2005 but that was due to a wheel bearing failure caused by incorrect assembly (my fault) Those discs are now part of our spares kit. The Drums where new when we built the car.

Can't remember how much the fronts were but the shoes were $75

Cheers Mick

Good ay Dave great effort at your last rally, the lack of brakes obviously worked pretty well!!! Now getting all serious we have used Ferodo DS3000 pads in 2006 and managed to wear out the rotors in just three or so rallies , great brakes lots of sparklers at night and great feel but a bit dear on rotor and w/bearing budget Currently using racebrake pads and I think they are very good with less wear.Standard rear shoes at moment
