Hey guys,
Would it be hard to convert an auto to manual?? What's involved etc?
There's a very straight slightly dinted twin cam AUTO going to auction tomorrow, and if its cheap enough, I'd consider getting a more so damaged manual and switching the bits around if the shells are the same???
Going to previous auction prices, i could probably get both a straight auto shell and a bucked (but still mechanically ok) manual for well under $1000....
Thoughts???

I don't think it is that difficult, the obvious pedals and clutch stuff, maybe a longitudinal member. GBox computer to disconnect.
Shab and Mick did a conversion on their blue car
.
Shab is regathering the Excel lurve (possibly subject to the Chrome Molly debate) and has been on the forum a bit lately.
He may be along here soon to elaborate.
Unless you are in the panel beating trade, it is going to be way easier and cheaper to convert an auto than fix a damaged manual.
Go for it I say !!

Said auto: http://www.pickles.com.au/servlet/Auction/VehicleDetail?item_id=2046909
Said manual: http://www.pickles.com.au/servlet/Auction/VehicleDetail?item_id=2047090
Both of which I'm confident will go for under $500...

Check out the front rails very closely it does not take a lot to bend them and also between the front strut tops and front panel. the other place to check is roof turret above the "b" pillar.
Auto to manual will not pose a problem if you obtain a complete manual car.

oh ok, did the shells change at some stage? So it should already have the holes and brackets for a clutch pedal etc.?
