If you can help that would be great I will leave the questions double spaced so you can just cut and paste this bit and fill in you own
Thanks
Justin
1. did you remove the fuel tank when welding in the rollcage
2. what is the clearance between the a pillar and the forward roll bar leg
3. I have spoken to Jamie and will order 40mm DMS other than rumour (which I have discussed with him) is there any reason not to go DMS?
4. have you removed your rear sway bar
5. Have you put a camber kit in the front and rear suspension pickups and tops
6. what size exhaust are you running
7. What seats are you running and if you made up mounts do you have a piccy
8. what belts are you running 2 or 3"
9. Did you seam weld and plate
10. those that gooped up your engine mounts, has it worked

Only ones I can comment on
3. I don't run it but it does seem to be fautless. I do not know rebuild cost though but as a comparison the hotbits are $88- per shock to rebuild and a little cheaper to buy but Glenn runs it without fault.
4. Not yet but will do it after coffs as coffs is smooth and fast so i think there may be a use for it there.
5. I run adjustable strut tops although I have seriously hammerred and bent them so maybe standard tops and camber pins etc may be more reliable.
6. 2.25"
7. Velo on the standard adjusters. Makes it easy when changing drivers for something else plus to get at the battery etc.
8. 3 but will probably go to 2 when these expire as 2 don't expire and I actually find them more comfortable but that is a personal taste.
9. Not yet but have it somewhere down the list of things to do. The cars are really strong.

1/ Definitely remove the fuel tank. Give the tank of fibre glass while it's out to help protect it.
2/ The front legs on Pete's car are hard up against the A pillar. Bonds did the cage.
9/ Pete's car is seam welded and plated. Pete and Whitey have photos of the work and should be able to post when they find time.
As an aside I plated the front end of Whitey's car when the engine/trans was out last weekend. We found cracks in the web(?) that runs from the firewall to the lower control arm front mount and cracks in the top of the inner guard where the guard meets the strut tower. Remember this car has done 2-2/1/2 seasons with no seam welding and has an alloy cage which I reckon is a great advertisement for the strength of the basic shell. Send PM to Whitey for photos
I assume you are running your car in Queensland, if so seam welding and plating is a must. The roads they use in rallys in QLD are a fair bit rougher than what we are exposed to in NSW so the cars cop a bigger pounding.

1. did you remove the fuel tank when welding in the rollcage
Yes.
2. what is the clearance between the a pillar and the forward roll bar leg
Mine's got quite a bit (not optimal), maybe about 40mm.
3. I have spoken to Jamie and will order 40mm DMS other than rumour (which I have discussed with him) is there any reason not to go DMS?
I think they are great value. Rebuilds are DIY and the kits cost about $50/corner from memory
4. have you removed your rear sway bar
Yes.....originally because the standard one didn't fit around the DMS, but it worked out really well anyway.
5. Have you put a camber kit in the front and rear suspension pickups and tops
No. Just using the DMS Camber washers.
6. what size exhaust are you running
2.5" It's too big, but it was laying around.....2" Mandrel or 2.25" Press bent would be ideal I reckon.
7. What seats are you running and if you made up mounts do you have a piccy
Old seats from my Suzuki.....I'll see if I can find some pics
8. what belts are you running 2 or 3"
3" 6pt......."do the belts up tight and shoot for the title!" :)
9. Did you seam weld and plate
Yes and no. Seam welded around the front, no plating. No cracking evident. Tops of strut towers need strenthening with some plating.
10. those that gooped up your engine mounts, has it worked[/QUOTE]
Haven't needed to...originals still seem fine......plenty of yumping has been done too

Thanks again guys. I have only got about 6 inches of deadning to remove around the handbrake (god I hate deadner) and will start on the cage next week.
