Shab
Great to have you back in an Excel, hope the build goes well and you can have a run before Christmas
How many pre rally dents does this one have?

Has the cheating car gone then or are you running a 2 car team. After riding in the VR4 on the weekend, I have only reaffirmed how cheating they are.

It's actually not in bad nick, only a couple of dings not like the first one.:D It's got a stuffed rear wheel bearing and I suspect a broken engine mount but other than that it seems preety good.
No chance of me getting rid of the VR4 it's very addictive Dave, i'm not sure what i'll run it in next year, i'll wait until we see the calander for the Excel series and then work around that ( I'm hopeing that running the Excel will help me get more out of the Galant ). Do you know the spring rates in your car Dave I can't remember what they were.
I think Megs was a little surprised when I told her I was going to build another Excel but I think she is looking forward to it.
Can't wait to get it out there,
Shab

Well it seems that I may had negleted to tell the wife about my new purchase and she found out from one of the girls at her work ( who found out from her son Hi Barry:rofl: ) so I may be able to build it a little quicker now as I will probably be sleeping in it in the garage.
In the doghouse,

Firstly welcome back to the Excel Series gotta keep the Fazz honest in 2008.
Also welcome to our world- Most of us are already in the dog house with our rally addiction just some of us are further down the back yard then others.
Some are lucky we don't live on a 1000 acres or we would never get feed. Bunnings have cheap reverse cycle A/c's at the moment to keep you warm
Cheers Mick

In latest developements all is good in the house of Shab. Mrs Shab has been out today for a little bit of retail therapy and just informed me that she has puchased a new leather lounge and that we are now even.

I hate that they always seem to spend much more than we spend to compensate for what we do. All the more reason to be careful about what I spend and what she knows about :|
I will look at the springs tonight as they just arrived back from Hotbits and are awaiting to be openned. Need to track down some bearings for the top mounts first as they are totally shot, plus I need to flatten one of the strut tops. After you bent it at Bathurst it seems to bend a bit easier now than the others but I am too cheap (or poor) to buy another one.

Thanks Dave but I didn't bend it that was Micks side of the car so he must have bent it.

What all 10kg of him. Oh wait that was your combined weights wasn't it. That is unfair in excels. I reckon we have to add ballast to you. And not just because of the weight.

Let's steal the idea from horse racing - minimum weight for a driver/navigator
What kind of parity ballast? Lead diving belts? Or maybe armoured suits?

What is going to cost you by the time you get a cage, suspension etc etc. This could be the most expensive excel going around

How about barrels of vodka. could be used for medicinal purposes in the event of a DNF.

Not gonna work Dave. Ballast will get lighter with every stage
Even if you seal every barrel right before the rally

you are on the money here with the horse racing idea of horse plus rider weight mind you I also know a little about Shabs retail therapy effort but then again after 35 years of competing it took carmel 25 years to get the leather lounge suite which she reckons has caused me to snore even more profusely in . Maybe I should try the Vodka idea!!!:slap:

They are 50 in the front and 20 in the rear, so I don't know what that translates to in pounds.
Whitey dropped his front to 40 and he felt it was an improvement. I want to go quicker but I like the feel of what the suspension set up is. It may be a bit hard and sometimes slippery but it is very predictable and easy to set up through corners.
