Hey all
Who out there has worked out what sort of mileage they are getting from their excels. Transports we are obviously getting about 7 and a bit l/100km but what about in competitive. I figured I should stop running with nearly a full tank and should have paid more attention to how much (or how little) of fuel that I was consuming.

Very roughly 10-10.5 in stages.
You have to trust your gauge on anything less that half a tank
While we are on the topic - does refuelling count as a "service". Service is usually restricted to service parks, but what about refuelling from petrol stations on transport? Not that there are plenty on every rally, but still...

I use an average of 5km per litre across transport and competitive combined. This seems to give a reasonable margin for error and has worked for me so far.

I've got nothing to offer here running out of fuel at the bay a couple of years ago.:spank:

I have always refuelled at servos on transports where possible, especially when they have special refuel zones in service parks as they just erk me. Plus there is normally plenty of time on transports, especially annoying when you have to line up to get into service and then refueling is in your service time (takes away from eating sausage sandwich time). There is nothing wrong with doing that Andrei. Most rallies (at least they used to) gave you distances between service and also distance between service stations for the event in the sup regs or specifically said no service stations are on the route.

Thats right Shab, I remember (from the stories as it was before I ran the excel) you guys forgetting to fill up after having some other problems and then backing up hills :rofl:to get through but eventually cooking your fuel pump.

I tend to keep the car toped up as I want to get the weight to the back as much as possible so I've been able to calculate about 11.5/100km on competitive and 7.5/100km on transport. Refuel seems to occur in service time on most events with notes made where refuels can occur on transports in the road books here in Victoria, I also noticed one special refuel point toward the end of Bega as well.
