I'm sure there is a simple explanation but what is a Hyundai Accent GT doing in the Excel Rally Series? Are NSW starting on the Accent succession plan despite giving me absolute curry over the idea some time ago or is this something totally different? Come to think of it what is a Accent GT?

The Excel is actually homologated and known in Europe and North America as an Accent, the Excel name is the one chosen by Hyundai for Australia, possibly as a carry over of the name from the X2 Excel. I think it may have been known as a "Pony" in other parts as well.

An "Accent GT" has actually run in several WRC events, particularly the Acropolis in the late 90's.
