Is anyone interested in forming a Excel Team for the 6 hour relay this year, the sup regs are below and this is probably the best and cheapest opportunity to have a go on arguably the best circuit in Australia. Given how consistent and reliable the Excel drivers are we might surprise ourselves. Bronni even has a house less than 2ks from the circuit on Smiths Beach so it might be a great weekend. If anyone wants to do it please contact me asap.

Anyone from any of the other states is welcome to come down, 2 days on the Phillip Island Circuit for $242 is the cheapest it might ever be.

As far as I know, I will be trapped in Melbourne (I don't mean that in a bad way but just not being able to get back for the Bago 150) so should be able to come down and help you out in the pits.

The Supp Regs are quite different to the 6 hour relay race that AROCA run up in here in NSW. Vic is much more focussed on the regularity and thus the handicap calc.. NSW has both the outright and handicap competition.

Interesting that they lump clubmans, utes and panel vans in the section related to 2 and 4 door vehicles. Not sure I want to be driving my clubbie around a racing panel van.

A 6 hour relay race is a big weekend of motorsport. I managed the team from Swedishbricks for a number of years here in NSW. And my guys in semi-sports sedan Volvos nearly took out the handicap competition.

Sounds good. Pretty cheap when you do the sums. If I was down that way, I reckon I'd have a go.

We can share a car so no need to sit in the pits and miss the action.

:( Bad news people, I e-mailed the organisers two weeks ago and apparently they have a full field with two teams on the waiting list. See response below.

e-mail from David Bellenger 3 Aug 2007

Tony,
Thanks you for your enquiry,

Unfortunately we are at track density (40 teams) for this year and already have two on the waiting list.

If you and your team members feel like a day out, please feel free to come down to the Island and have a look at the event in preparation for next year.

If you do venture down, when you get to the gate just say you are with one of the teams (just give a number) and the security will let you in. Feel free to look myself or the Secretary of the meeting up and we will be only too happy to show you around.

Again, Sorry about this year but I look forward to seeing your team at the event in 2008

Regards

David Bellenger

If you do happen to manage to squeeze an entry somehow I'd be happy to take one of the vacant driving positions.
