Hi guys,

If one had a complete, mechanically undamaged DOHC auction wreck (ie. a complete DOHC car), could one buy an ealier SOHC car, (for ALOT less money that trying to find a DOHC shell), and switch everything over???

Is there physically any difference in the body shells themselves, and if so, when did it change?

Cheers,
Greg

Pretty straight forward really. Just be careful that the SOHC you buy is not before 20/05/1996 otherwise you may need to change the lower part of the radiator Support. The lateral links on the earlier models bolt on to the rad support in a different spot.

You will need the ECU harness and the calculator.

Cool, that's the sort of thing I was after... I note thought (just going through one of the thousand parts catalouges here), that KYB specify a cut off of 05-97 for different rear shocks? As does Monroe?

Any ideas on that? Is it a physical shell change? or just a specification?

I think you will find its just a change in shock and spring rates that cause the date change.

The top strut mounts ate the same all the way through and so is the stub axle.

OK, so maybe doing this is back on the books... Is there any way to tell other than the build date whether its the old or new style of mounting?
