View Full Version : Bago vs NatCap

Looking at the series calendar with only two rounds left, can’t decide which round to officiate and which to run.
Nat Cap with more expensive entry and only a week from Alpine (which I am still thinking of) seems to be a choice.
But if Alpine does not eventuate, Nat Cap seems more interesting and challenging to run?
Any ideas?
Who is going to apply for Alpine entry?
(Or should I ask who plans to run both NatCap and Alpine? :) )

Do Bago, official at NatCrap....
I ran the Bago 100 last year with Lizzy in the Gemini... good roads, relaxed atmosphere a generally good event...
Far FAR better value and vibe than NatCrap

I agree with Anna. Do Bago.
For me it comes down to Coast roads vs Canberra roads........and it's Coast roads every time!
Having said that, I'll probably officiate at Bago as the dollars will probably be a bit skinny after Forster two weeks before. That way I definitely won't need to go to Natcap either if I collect points at Bago. We'll see.

You could run both events,
There is no rule that says you MUST Officiate !!:)
I agree though, if you had to choose it would be Bago.
Nice small event, good roads with great atmosphere.
After NatCap last year i would never run there again by choice.

Do Bago. Much more fun than Natcap. I drove the whole event with a wine glass on the bonnet the roads were so smooth.

Bago FTW comrades:hyper: , Canberra is a place to rally between the north and south coast every now and then.

is the natcap rally really that bad? I was looking to see if we could get interstate for a rally this year to see how we compare with some other excels and its the only event that really fits into our calendar.
Incidentally would it be difficult for us to get a unregistered vehicle permit in Canberra?
cheers,

I hear people complain about it, and I also here some people that love it. They are a bit different to the coast roads that many of us are used to, especially in the soft wood forrests, and especially when they are cleared, as there is no tree line to follow. There is a mix of good and bad roads and from people that come from interstate, they are mostly impressed, as I think we are often spoilt by the quality of many of our coast roads. It is the only non coast event on our calendar this year, but overall, I think the majority of people enjoy it, but more people will raise their voice when they complain than when they offer praise.

What is the date for NatCap?
According to the calendar on here its the 17th of November.
Basically I was hoping to run against as many other Excels as possible so if a few of you guys are going to give it a miss we might wait until the start of next years season.

I will be in Melbourne, but if I get the car sorted before I go and organise someone to bring it to Canberra, I am thinking about driving up. But have front pads to replace, a crack in the chassis to repair, new sump guard mounts to make etc etc, so it will be close. Plus way behind studies at the moment.
