We are beginning to look into the calendar for next year and the future and just wanted to briefly gauge peoples thoughts on events etc.

I am keen to boost Excel numbers in SA. People tell us they are interested but we seem to be having trouble in making it to the next step and producing these vehicles. Just wondering on what sort of incentives people would be looking at to make this happen.

Next year, the Clubman Series will be continuing to run and we will probably align the Hyundai Series with this again. However, I wonder if including a couple of the bigger events (state rounds) would give the series more reputation.

Ethan and I are also researching into bringing back our State Rallysprint Championship in 2009. We ran this quite successfully in 2006 with 48 entrants. We would like to extend this in 2009 and I was wondering if any interstate travellers would be interested in this sort of event. We are commencing our venue research shortly.

All thoughts are gratefully appreciated - just a bit stuck at getting the series kicked off!

PS - Apologies if the poll does not make sence! Please post any questions you may have of me.

It would be great for SA to have a shared round with Victoria, maybe at Begonia (if it runs in 2008).

We could then see a cunning plan for several joint rounds
NSW/QLD at Coffs
NSW/VIC at Bega
VIC/SA at Begonia (Ballarat)

Could be the basis of a 3 round national excel series :naughty:
or at least a single national event held at Begonia.

Opps the plan is out.

Don't hold your breath for the Begonia as the Club up there still hasn't got it's act together and appears to have allienated some key people from Victoria Rally community. More likely would be that we lobby CCRMIT to run the George Derrick in the Avoca area again next year that would be even closer for SA cars.

Unfortunately this years Begonia has been cancelled and the Ballarat Light Car Club have not submitted an application for 2008.

Damn, there goes a good idea.

Are there any suitable rallys that are held to the west of Melbourne? It's a long way from Adelaide, if not.

We are up for any suggestions on broadening our options and competition scope. Just need to work out to get more cars running around.

How have the NSW and VIC series become full of cars? Is it just word of mouth, promotional flyers?

A good event would be if we could get the Wagga District Car Club to run an event again as that is well positioned for 3 states. Plus it has some of the best roads in the country that have not been used for years. The old ARC Ray White Rally used some magic roads. I guess it would be about 5 hours from Sydney, similar from Melbourne and maybe about 8 from Adelaide, of course depending on what part they ran the event in. Might be worth lookiing up who is active in that club at the moment as we would probably get well over 20 cars next year for a 3 way state challenge.

And not that bad for QLD either...

Hi Lisi,

the only problem I see with including the state rounds is the increased cost due to suit requirements and higher entry fees. This isnt such an issue for me as I am planning to run them anyway but may put some people off? Perhaps we could include some cheaper events like the state khanacross champs? I think the rallysprint series would probably be a good fit too.

cheers,

Dave
