Can only think of one that has ever come up for sale since the start of the series and that was around $8000 to $9000 I think. If you shop around and do as much as you can yourself you will build you own for less.

Did the excel of Craig Jones (0421 055get sold. It was about $8000-. It was a 4 door with a welded bond cage, dms suspension, seats harnesses, exhaust, filter, trip meter, intercom, fire exting etc etc ie everything ready and going. It was only a single cam but that is a cheap upgrade if you are keen on having a twin cam.
My car cost me $7500- with only a cage and seats basically.
Shabs damaged excel was damaged for $4500-
I think if you build one you will spend more unless you can build the cage yourself, and be careful if you do. Otherwise $3000- for suspension, $3000- for a cage aand then seats harnesses and safety gear, it can get expensive to build. All the little bits and pieces add up plus all the work. Save some money by doing a bolt in cage which I would do next time anyway. But I guess I hate doing the work but can't afford to pay someone so prefer to get one already done.

Craigs car is now at my house :) we settled on around the $8k mark. Just out of interest I also have a 97 single cam that I bought for $1200 from the damaged car auctions and have probably spent $2k on all up to get it straight and replace a few damaged bits. My estimate was about $10k to get it ready to rally.

Ethan and I did some sums and we were hoping that $5K would be it for the car.
Basic "rough" breakdown of spendings would be:
$2K for car
$2K for cage (we know a cage builder who will do base cage cheap but I want extra bars)
We have all the seats, harnesses and bits 'n' pieces as we will take them from our Datto rally car.
Ethan is also the SA/NT State Warehouse Manager for Pedders so we would probably put something along those lines in. Afterall, it is only "repainted Drummond".

Hi,
Yep, I agree pretty much with all of the above. I reckon that if you watch your pennies but not scrimp on safety items or decent suspension you can get a car to the first rally for $10k.
If you REALLY scrimped, you could do it for probably under $5k for a single-cam car that would get you to the start line with a bolt-in cage and near-standard suspension and second-hand bargains for everything else....but hey, at least you'd be out there!
Just do it!
Cheers

Hi all, I noticed you guys talking about a bolt in cage.
What brand and where do you buy them from?
Bare with me, I'm new to this game.
