Well Peta and I are up and running,
Done one rally and one practice day. Only bent a front fender so far.:(
Pete had a drive the other day for a stage and had a ball.
Planning on going to Kalowar on the 10th of may, Jimna on the 31st of may st then the QRC two dayer in June.
We might be going to coffs as well $$$$$$
The trailer is coming along and other than that all is good.
We have entered the Procket Rocket Series for the year.

Well I pressed between a rock and hard place due to the commitements in funding my business, but that's no excuse, and my current plan is to make the next KCF as a shakedown to the Rally Q, and then whatever excel series rounds I can afford.

Still, I only did one event in total last year (Rally Lithgow), and I've already done one this year, so anything else is a bonus!

You didn't do it so it doesn't count :)
Pete had a drive the other day for a stage and had a ball. Yep I heard it bouncing off the rev limiter for a good 300 metres after the road block I was at, it should be on video too.
The trailer is coming along
Yours or mine wtf:

Yep she must be copying my excelent "on the limiter in first for the whole stage" driving style.

Was meaning mine but :hail: kalpowar is close

Nope, pretty sure, unlike you, that she actually made it all the way to the limiter in second gear :potstir:
Did she tell you the profanity they yelled at me at the road block? That should be on video too.

Hello ALL

After a late start in January we are progressing reasonable well. Cage is in (thanks to Nathan MSA), seats etc. Big ticket item to come is the suspension. Usual constrains (TIME & MONEY)! Hope to use the second KCF as the shakedown for Rally QLD. Some pictures of the build attached.

Hi guys, Im a younger guy wanting to get into rallying.
Is the series a good place to get into, is it worth it. Am unsure of which series i should join. I already have a 1999 twin cam excel at me disposale if i want to go down that route.

Hi Ben to be honest in QLD at the moment it really doesnt matter what series you join. You have the Excel series, Pocket Rocket series and the CAMS p2 class. The most important thing is to get out there and have fun. You really have to decide what your budget for building is and more importantly what your budget for racing is. your Excel can be rally ready for about another $3000.00.That would include rollcage, std seats modified, harnesses, extinguishers and triangles. The other Qld cars all have spent another $3-5000 on suspension and seats but you really could get away with std suspension for a while.
There are many other options such as buying older cars like bluebirds, gemini's and charades. The biggest thing with the excels is the cost of racing, its essentially the cheapest class there is. $800.00 gets you a whole spare car from the salvage auctions. You buy new panels as Hyundai support us, a new bonnet is $130.00 for example. They are strong and can be fast.

There is a QLD forum that you might get some help with

:rofl:of course !!it was the rev limiter, i was woundering what that noise was

BEN !!! stick with the Excel , having built, raced and prepared many different cars over the last almost 20 year the excel is really an awesome little car , before you do anything come and talk to us in person and go for a ride in one of the cars and also give serious consideration to Navigating for someone before you spend your hard earned dollars ,by Naving in at least one event you learn alot about the running order and procedures that happen during a rally , this will be of a huge assistance to you when you turn up to your first event with your own car and a mate to Nav for you that doesn't have a clue what to do because you roped him or her in at the last minute, a typical rally thing
you can even come over the the workshop here at Brendale and we can take you for a drive and do our pretend rally that we have been putting together as a practice exercise for people wanting to to get into rally Navigating, we have it written up just like a real rally with a time card, road book to travel to and from special stages then you can either practice writing pace note or calling a set that we have written.

as for other newbies we have had a another couple of enquirers come through here at GSL/MSA this week , one of which was a very promising conversation with an old hand of rallying looking for a cheap and fun way to get the band back together

Rob!! is the footage from the other day around somewhere for us little people to see :wiggle: , im really really glad the bumble bee doesnt have an incar camera Ooops

Sorry I haven't been on here. But it seems if you use the forum a lot, you get referred to as a "Senior Member". Trying to avoid that.
