Since I won't get my Excel into the forest for some time, I am keen to do some supersprints.

I have some good road/race Kumho's in my garage (ex MG Trophy series - not me though) but they are 215/45/16's.

Any ideas on whether these are likely to fit under the guards?

Have any of you bought ex-boyracer cars that had big wheels which are now surplus?

Am I better to go for 14's or 15's and get rid of the Kumho's?

All suggestions welcome.

Dave,

16s will fit as there's plenty of boy-racers with them running around and if you've got the tyres and can find the rims at a decent price, then just go for it.

The one catch is the final drive gearing of the standard box (which we need to keep because of the regs). It's only 3.8:1 in a twin cam and worse in a single cam.....so the smaller the rolling diameter the better.

But don't let that stop you.

BTW, the Excel is a fairly handy supersprinter as well. I've done a 1:20 around Wakefield on rally tyres (Leo does 1:12ish in his clubman on semi-slicks). Brakes took a pounding though.

Cheers

Glenn

My spares car has some boy racer 16inch rims on the rear. My guess was they were on the front as well but the fronts were damaged in the accident and replaced with some stock 13's.
