Hey Greg!

Just looking over the Calnedar of the nominated Excel Series events, and wonder if it needs updating??

Round 1 5th April Border Ranges Rally - GCTMC
(has now been rescheduled to the 27th Sept)

Round 2 5th July Rydges Capricorn Rally - CQMSC
(Evetn never happened???)

Round 3 2nd August Jimna Rally - BSCC

Round 4 15th November Location TBA - BSCC
(Event seems doubtful - and now Coff has been rescheduled to this date??)

Round 5 6th December Gallangowan - BSCC

Any updates as to what is going to replace the Rydges Capricorn event - and a back up for Cooloola if that doesn't happen??

Definately something to talk about at the meeting tomorrow night! Was already on the agenda!

Yep, those dates, with the two cancellations are still correct, but I did hear something about the dates possibly changing again because of the Coffs ARC Round... Anyway, as far as I know 2/8, 15/11, 6/12 and Urbenville 27/9 are all still correct. Another option, which would obivously need to be discussed with the club in question would be Yaraman.

We did have 5 rounds planned, but with Rocky obivously being cancelled its made for a short 4 rounds. I don't think its an issue as they're all close together, and all in the second half of the year, and hasn't necessarily been a bad thing all being in the second half of the year as its allowed alot more car to be ready.

We'll talk about it tomorrow, but my personal opion is just stick to the 4 rounds this year, then look at going 5-6 next year, with backups. More than happy to discuss otherwise though!

Skypilot, Moxie, myself, and the marvellous rally canary (with a clipped wing ) will be there.

What about you Astro?

Why??? The all comers regs are out and makes no mention of PRC what so ever!!!

ARTICLE AC4 - VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY
AC4.1 Vehicles must comply with Section 11of the CAMS 2008 Manual of Motor Sport -National Rally
Code, Schedule R – Requirements for all Rally Cars.
Whilst compliance to the letter of existing rally categories, it will be a requirement for cars to be
generally within in the spirit of those rules. The specification of any car not complying with a
CAMS Rally Car category/group published in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport is required to be
submitted to the organisers. The organisers reserve the right to reject any entry at its absolute
discretion.

I read that like, 'ask nicely and you shall receive' and for all the reasons why we went to the effort of putting them on (looking good and attracting attention), then they should DEFINATELY stay on for Rally Q! :potstir:

As for KCF next weekend, if anything is said, I'll turn around and run Sched R... I don't care. After a DNF in the first round I've got no chance of P2 for the series. So for at least the next two events my wing is staying on! So that gives me (read: us) about 2 months to try and get it approved for PRC use before the first Excel (Clubman) event.

Greg, I honestly can't see the rules being changed. And I don't think that the "wing" is the biggest draw card for the car. The fact that they are well presented cars, and I know Justin's (and you know how much it hurts to say this :P) sounds excellent, is much more important than creating nausea about something that realisticall was never going to be legal. I really think you're beating your head against a wall. I know how you read the rules, and I know how Scruts read the rules, and I really don't think you'll get far, as allowing them for one type has FAR reaching implications for others (precident set.)

I as always wish you luck, but I can't see you winning this one.

Oh, and I'll be there, just look for the white overalls poking out from under the yellow car. :D

I want to echo Redwarfs sentiment.
As it was put to me, if they allow the Excel wing then next it will be Escort forest flares or Datto 1600 whatever.

Feel free to pursue it with our backing but my guess is that it will never be over. Even if CAMS issue a bulletin.

I would channel you undoubted energy and enthusiasm for the Excel series into some other area.

You'll know soon enough at scrutiny if they allow the wing I guess.:deal: I'll be there wearing my flares as they're within the rules.:finger (I just read Whitey's reply and thought I'd better clarify that I run a Escort as a Classic where the forest flares are allowed).

Jeez Skypilot you run a tidy ship, making the service crew wear white overalls!

Cheers Tanz.

As a schedule R event you can run a rear wing just as the turbos don't need restrictors etc. If you guys want to run the wings I will dig mine out and repair it and drill some holes into the car as I like the look of it as well. I can't wait to come up to some warmer weather.

Our club runs 2 events a year as schedule R and it makes it easy for people that are working on rally cars that don't want to bother with a lot of nitty gritty to run a state series event.

Sweet as! The way I read the all comer regs for Rally Q is worded that items like wings/flares etc. won't be a problem. I'll follow it up with the organisers and report on the outcome.

With regards to Rob (Redwarf, not Rob323), I agree with you, however last time we spoke to Col Trinder he said if the other states were in favour of it then getting it approved for Excel Series cars was a distinct possiblity. I'll send Col another email this arvo so I'll report on the outcome! Either way my wing will be on loud and proud at KCF and Rally Q!

bugger me kids where to start

Rob 323 I dont think that you need any help in pretending to be a challenged soul but to be honest though I do think your village is missing you

Tanz yep white overalls are the go

Moxie wanted these

and I wanted these

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2291/2239630314_8fe602131d.jpg?v=0

And if we are lucky Rob and RedDwarf will roll up in white somethings.

As to the wing I will be removing mine. Moxie and I are entering the Pocket Rocket series again and as such we have to be able to run P2. The wing thing is still happening but last thing we need to do is piss people off. As it stands the wing is illegal in P2 and unless you want to run RRR then it has to come off.

I am all for those uniforms justin - especially if it comes with those muscles as mandatory - Sorry Rob - start benchpressing! I think I just found my new screensaver!

Greg, sorry I wasn't able to be there last nite as I have been crook. Hope it went well.

One thing to consider if wanting to use Yarraman as part of the Excel Series - it has to be a multiclub event to be part of a series - and Yarraman is a club event only.

Cheers

I really don't know why you want a half dressed pic of me as your screen saver.

Justin, could you picture pulling into the service area after Moxie has dressed us two Robs like that?

You can have a club event as part of the series if you all want it to be. AS long as they had day memberships available so that the price was still cheap then it isn't an issue if the club will allow you to use it. You would have to approach the event director first because it might not suit the philosophy behind what he wants to do with the event.

Redwarf

Thats true.

If I remember correctly they were thinking of doing the same thing with the Gemmi's last year.

I can't remember if anything was sorted, but I don't think it would be that hard to organise, given the club that is organizing it. :)

The gemini guys tried to include Yarraman and Kalpowar in their calendar in order to keep competitor costs down and add a bit of event variety, but QRAP or at least one person on QRAP told them it couldn't be done. I understand that Milton Qld CAMS office had no issues with it though!

Redwarf

Well, that sucks. :wtf:

Crazy Dave
26-05-2008, 06:31 PM
You just need to make sure you have the right representation before it goes through the panel then. Apart from that they are only there to make recommendations and not rulings. One thing to consider though is to try and focus on picking events that are better for the series and its future and not just the current competitors.

Dave, Yaraman definately fits that criteria! ;) I think every one would definately agree on that... It was put the meeting last week and unanimously voted in. I was hesitant to bring it up, as it made the second half of the calender very hectic, but all that bothered to attend the meeting, voted strongly in favour. Was a pity to not see it part of the Gemini series...
