Hi All,

Just to let you all know that we are holding an Excel Rally training day/night in Bendigo on Saturday the 21st of June. Start time will be at 12:00pm for scrutineering with runs scheduled to start at 1:00pm and a finish around 7:30pm. (Camping is available at the track)

The day will be open to anyone interested in joining the Excel Rally series or just wanting some more information :grouphug: as well as those already involved who want some practice and maybe instruction. Juniors are welcome too!

If you are interested in attending, send me a PM or post in this thread and I can forward you a copy of the supplementary regulations and a map to the track if needed.

It is great to see this going ahead, I think a big thanks to Tony for organising it is in order!

Bagshot is great, I have been there before for a HRA event and managed to get a couple of laps around it in my old excel (albiet very slowly).

Well we had a successful Excel training day in Bendigo on the weekend and I would like to thank Nikk for helping me organise the day, Col for overseeing the day and keeping us all in check, Dale for driving all the way up to scrutineer the cars, Setephen Daws from CAMS for helping us get an event permit through at a reasonable cost, to Paul Batten and Peter Wrench for coming up and giving us all some tips to help us understand our cars and refine our techniques and finally to the Bendigo Car Club for letting us have access to the track.

Bendigo put on some reasonable weather during the day and a nice mild evening for the 11 drivers on the day. After a slow start, the last run finished at about 9:30pm. We had two tracks set up with one offering some tight precision work and the other a larger more flowing track.

I'm not sure how many ks the Rally Drive boys did in the old Kangan 4 door Excel but I doubt it was even switched off between 4 and 9:30pm, a great testament to the reliability of the Hyundai!

Gary Howard from the scrutiny panel also came along for a look and I'm sure that everyone benefited from being able to informally chat with him.

I would also like to thank all those that turned up on the day and hope you all made it home safely.

If anyone has any photos or videos let me know and I will post them up.

Tony

Col took a couple of pics of Nikk below; thanks again Col

Guys, and girls.........what a brilliant day!!! If the generator hadn't have cut out at 10.30pm I think we all still could have been out there with the kookaburra's until dawn!!
Thanks for all of the support during the day, and the wonderful advice from our guru's..........
Can't wait for the next one now and to catch up with everyone again.:grouphug:....and the George.

Excels are brilliant. I can't believe my stock standard beast kept the pace. They're great little cars. I'm a true believer.
Great day, thanks so much to Tony, Nikki and Col..........:hail:

Hi All,

On behalf of Pete, Adrian, Kent and myself, we'd like to thank Tony for organizing a fantastic day and to everyone who contributed and made it possible.

Early on we thought the day was going to come to an abrupt halt due to a minor stopping / braking issue ! However, with a steer in the right direction from Tony, we soon had some replacement parts and were back on our way again and kept the excel working into the night.

A quick thank you to Nikki is also in order, for putting on a great bbq. Finally thank you to everyone who attended and made us feel welcome.

Until next time - Happy Rallying !

Cheers,
