Hello people, my name is Brendan and I'm new to rallying
A bit of background first... I was looking to get into rallying maybe 5 years ago, but the costs of a decent PRC car and rarity of Geminis scared me off for a while. I got into motorbikes, largely due to their relatively low costs, and was preparing to race a production 2 stroke road bike. That proved to be much more pain than it's worth, ceased on me twice in less than 500km of track time, and has spent the last 12 months under a tarp in the back yard.
My financial circumstances have improved, and with the excel series looking like an economical way to rally it means that i've tanken the plunge and purchased an excel (http://www.excelrally.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=643). I think i'm going to need a lot of help getting it ready to go. I've spoken with Anthony from Automotive Gadgets and he helped a lot (thanks for answering all my silly questions if you're reading this!), but there's still a few things I'm unsure about. Being completely new to the inner workings of getting a car ready to rally, I've found there's not a lot of definitive information about what really needs to be done to get started, especially regarding rally cars and the RTA / CAMS.
Anyway, as i said in the for sale thread, i'll try to get to oran park next weekend and bombard you all with questions then (i'll bring pad and pen!). That thread seems a little quiet though, is it still on? http://www.excelrally.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=673
Cheers!
Brendan
