i have been speaking to a few QRC competitors that have taken an interest in the excels, all of which have expressed an interest in owning there own excel as a cheaper alternative to running their 4WD cars at none QRC rounds,

what do people think of running the excel series next year at events that aren't part of the QRC of which i counted 5 or maybe those event 5 plus a couple of QRC events as well but only your best 5 rounds count to your series points total,

feed back , ideas , abuse , constructive criticism, useful input, help,

I would like as many pace noted events as possible. I think all the QRC rounds are noted ? and the KCF events.

If they are not part of the series, there is nothing stopping me doing them anyway, but I'd prefer the noted events.

The only QRC which is noted is the ARC round. KCF's are noted, all others are road book.

I personally prefer road books over notes. You tend not to arrive at your next accident as quickly. :slap: Hi Moxie!

No, its only 2 out of the 6 rounds (the two Rally QLD heats) that are pacenoted. The rest are blind.

I agree with Nathan, in that some, if not all Excel rounds should be outside of the QRC. Its just unfortunate in QLD that clubman follows QRC, unlike in NSW.

There is starting to get a following of front running QRC guys that have expressed interest in the Excel series, but obviously can't because of event clashes.

Just as an entry point (and this can get discussed tonight at the committe meeting), you could run the the 3 KCF's (the later of which may be a clubman round again like this year), the ND and Capcoast club rallies (pending obviously speaking to these clubs first, and getting their approval, BUT there is NOTHING in CAMS that stops a series going to a club rally if day membership is part of the entry.!), and the all comers rally at Rally Q split into the two heat, with half points for each heat allocated.

That would give, 6 rounds, best 5 count. So someone who was doing the QRC (who would obviously miss Rally Q all comers) would still get 5 round. Someone who can't afford to do rally Q, or doesn't want to, also gets 5 rounds. Which makes 5 pacenoted rallies, and 1 blind rally. Pace notes are what's used at the top of our sport, so I personally see no issue with them as a majority.

Also means you can run the entire season without needing a driving suit. (At this stage, until the rules change), which makes it cheaper, and then gives Excel competitors the chance to do blind rallies in the QRC/Clubman is they so wish.

Also, by adding these events to the series which we didn't have this year, means that if any of those events get canceled, we could quickly approve the addition of a clubman event to fill the gap.

Thoughts?

this would also give some of the more experienced guys who normally do QRCs the chance to help out in a mentoring role

There seems to be a difference in preferences for pace noted rallies. I see the "co-driver" as ballast. If I crash (should that be,When I crash), It needs to be my own stupid fault. Not mis reading of pace notes. This Idea of a "team sport" is rubbish. I pay for the car and unfortuneatly I pay for the repairs.
We don't need to pretend to be big boys
More Blind rallies.
Ooh! that all sounds a bit harsh.

It sounds like a more cost effective way to go, which suits me fine as I'm on an extremely tight budget.
Whatever costs me less money.

I grew up on blind rally's but I'll be learning pace notes so it doesn't worry me.
